"Sam" Porter of Ipava, who 4 passed away on January 17, 2025; and 5 WHEREAS, Sam Porter was born in Macomb to Paul and Lela 6 (Howell) Porter on September 21, 1934; he served in the U.S. 7 Navy during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955; he married Linda 8 Tyler in Ipava on October 14, 1956; and 9 WHEREAS, Sam Porter was a lifelong row crop farmer, 10 cattleman, and inventor; and 11 WHEREAS, Sam Porter was a member of the Ipava Presbyterian 12 Church for 78 years; he was also a member of the Ipava Fire 13 Department, Ipava American Legion Post #17, the V.I.T. School 14 Board, and the Fulton County Farm Bureau; and 15 WHEREAS, Sam Porter stayed busy with work and community 16 involvement, but he also took time to enjoy the small things in 17 life; he enjoyed playing cards, attending the Fulton County 18 Fair, and being the target of his best buddy Durg's practical 19 jokes; he and his wife enjoyed attending their grandchildren's 20 activities, including livestock shows and sporting events, 21 often attending multiple events in one day; they enjoyed SR0139 LRB104 12556 MST 23045 r SR0139- 2 -LRB104 12556 MST 23045 r SR0139 - 2 - LRB104 12556 MST 23045 r SR0139 - 2 - LRB104 12556 MST 23045 r 1 traveling with friends, especially with the Ipava dune buggy 2 crew to Branson, Missouri; and 3 WHEREAS, Sam Porter was preceded in death by his parents; 4 his siblings, Bill Porter, Kathryn Miller, and Mary Keefauver; 5 his daughter, Christie Kaye Porter; and his sister-in-law, 6 Janette Porter; and 7 WHEREAS, Sam Porter is survived by his wife, Linda; his 8 children, Craig (Cindy) Porter, Brian (Lonna) Porter, and 9 Brenda (Dave) Crouse; his grandchildren, Katrina (Brian) 10 Hartsock, Derek (Nicole) Porter, Levi (Abby) Porter, Kristen 11 (Mike) Peters, Laci (Ryan) Hildebrand, Clay (Kelsey) Crouse, 12 and Kylie (Seth) Kessler; his great-grandchildren, Ava 13 Hartsock, Evan Hartsock, Leah Porter, Mya Porter, Fulton 14 Peters, Rhett Peters, Lainey Peters, and Crew Kessler; his 15 sister-in-law, Nancy Porter; and his brothers-in-law, Norm 16 Miller and Don Keefauver; therefore, be it 17 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 19 Samuel H.
