44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
55 3 to learn of the death of Charles L. Sexton of Mechanicsburg,
66 4 who passed away on February 1, 2025; and
77 5 WHEREAS, Charles Sexton, the son of Homer C. and Eva
88 6 (Skinner) Sexton, was born in Dawson on July 17, 1936; he
99 7 served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed at Forbes
1010 8 Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas with temporary duty
1111 9 assignments at Eilson Air Force Base in Alaska and Goose Bay
1212 10 Air Force Base in Labrador, and he was discharged with the rank
1313 11 of A/1C; he married Dorothy I. Smith at the Mechanicsburg
1414 12 Christian Church in Mechanicsburg on November 24, 1961; and
1515 13 WHEREAS, Charles Sexton worked for the Office of the
1616 14 Secretary of the State of Illinois, retiring on December 31,
1717 15 1997; and
1818 16 WHEREAS, Charles Sexton was a member of Carlock Lodge #904
1919 17 A.F and A.M of Mechanicsburg, and he served on the Board of
2020 18 Trustees for the Village of Mechanicsburg; and
2121 19 WHEREAS, Charles Sexton was preceded in death by his wife,
2222 20 Dorothy; his parents; his brothers, Forrest W. "Mike" Sexton
2323 21 and Homer C. Sexton, Jr.; and his sisters, V. Lorraine Sexton

3333 2 WHEREAS, Charles Sexton is survived by his children, Glen
3434 3 (Sally) Sexton and Gitana (Todd) Fishburn; five grandchildren;
3535 4 three great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way;
3636 5 his brother-in-law, Darrell (Delores) Smith; and many nieces
3737 6 and nephews; therefore, be it
3838 7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
3939 8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4040 9 Charles L. Sexton and extend our sincere condolences to his
4141 10 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
4242 11 further
4343 12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4444 13 presented to the family of Charles Sexton as an expression of
4545 14 our deepest sympathy.
