1  SENATE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3  to learn of the death of Charles L. Sexton of Mechanicsburg,
4  who passed away on February 1, 2025; and
5  WHEREAS, Charles Sexton, the son of Homer C. and Eva
6  (Skinner) Sexton, was born in Dawson on July 17, 1936; he
7  served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed at Forbes
8  Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas with temporary duty
9  assignments at Eilson Air Force Base in Alaska and Goose Bay
10  Air Force Base in Labrador, and he was discharged with the rank
11  of A/1C; he married Dorothy I. Smith at the Mechanicsburg
12  Christian Church in Mechanicsburg on November 24, 1961; and
13  WHEREAS, Charles Sexton worked for the Office of the
14  Secretary of the State of Illinois, retiring on December 31,
15  1997; and
16  WHEREAS, Charles Sexton was a member of Carlock Lodge #904
17  A.F and A.M of Mechanicsburg, and he served on the Board of
18  Trustees for the Village of Mechanicsburg; and
19  WHEREAS, Charles Sexton was preceded in death by his wife,
20  Dorothy; his parents; his brothers, Forrest W. "Mike" Sexton
21  and Homer C. Sexton, Jr.; and his sisters, V. Lorraine Sexton

1  and A. Jean Colin; and
2  WHEREAS, Charles Sexton is survived by his children, Glen
3  (Sally) Sexton and Gitana (Todd) Fishburn; five grandchildren;
4  three great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way;
5  his brother-in-law, Darrell (Delores) Smith; and many nieces
6  and nephews; therefore, be it
7  RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
8  ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9  Charles L. Sexton and extend our sincere condolences to his
10  family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11  further
12  RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13  presented to the family of Charles Sexton as an expression of
14  our deepest sympathy.
