1  SENATE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3  to learn of the death of Grant Withers of Petersburg, who
4  passed away on February 4, 2025; and
5  WHEREAS, Grant Withers, the son of Richard and Leslie
6  (Bennett), was born in Springfield on July 10, 2009; and
7  WHEREAS, Grant Withers was a student-athlete at PORTA High
8  School in Petersburg; and
9  WHEREAS, Grant Withers was a member of 4-H and Future
10  Farmers of America (FFA); and
11  WHEREAS, Grant Withers loved hunting with his brother,
12  fishing, riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, working, and
13  spending time on the lake with his friends; he also loved
14  playing sports, including football, baseball, and basketball;
15  and
16  WHEREAS, Grant Withers was preceded in death by his
17  grandfather, George Withers, and his great-grandfathers,
18  Harold McHenry and Merle Bennett; and
19  WHEREAS, Grant Withers is survived by his mother, Leslie

1  (Robert) Clifton; his siblings, Tucker, Wyatt, Maci Withers,
2  and Lane Clifton; his grandparents, Thomas and Jody Bennett
3  and Mary Withers; his great-grandmother, Carol McHenry; and
4  several aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
5  RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
6  ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7  Grant Withers and extend our sincere condolences to his
8  family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9  further
10  RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11  presented to the family of Grant Withers as an expression of
12  our deepest sympathy.
