28	28	1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing
29	29	2 Wednesday, February 16, 2022, as a day to honor the work and
30	30	3 mission of the regions of the American Red Cross serving the
31	31	4 state of Indiana.
32	32	5 Whereas, The mission of the American Red Cross is to
33	33	6 prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of
34	34	7 emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the
35	35	8 generosity of donors;
36	36	9 Whereas, The American Red Cross provides about 40% of the
37	37	10 nation's blood supply, facilitating the donation of blood to
38	38	11 those who need it, including accident and burn victims, heart
39	39	12 surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving
40	40	13 treatment for leukemia, cancer, or sickle cell disease;
41	41	14 Whereas, The nation is facing a critical blood shortage due
42	42	15 to a notable decline in blood donations since the pandemic
43	43	16 began;
44	44	17 Whereas, In these times of crisis and strife, the Red Cross is
45	45	18 dedicating all available resources to meet the blood needs of
46	46	19 hospitals and patients but cannot do it alone; and
47	47	20 Whereas, To overcome these immense challenges, the Red
48	48	21 Cross relies on Hoosiers to come together to support those in
49	49	22 greatest need: Therefore,
50	50	23 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
51	51	24 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
52	52	25 the Senate concurring:

54	54	1 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly recognizes
55	55	2 Wednesday, February 16, 2022, as a day to honor the regions of
56	56	3 the American Red Cross serving the state of Indiana.
57	57	4 SECTION 2. That the Indiana General Assembly urges both
58	58	5 its members and constituents to give to the Red Cross in some
59	59	6 way, whether by signing up to volunteer in their communities,
60	60	7 contributing financially, or giving the heroic gift of a life-saving
61	61	8 blood donation.
