1313 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Major
1414 2 General Dale Lyles upon his promotion.
1515 3 Whereas, Major General Dale Lyles, a native of Salem,
1616 4 Indiana, commissioned as an infantry officer in the United
1717 5 States Army after graduating from Indiana University in 1989
1818 6 and the Indiana Military Academy in 1994;
1919 7 Whereas, Throughout his military career, Major General
2020 8 Lyles served at nearly every level of leadership within the
2121 9 Indiana Army National Guard, including as a Platoon Leader,
2222 10 Program and Budget Officer, Company Commander,
2323 11 Communications-Electronics Officer, Plans and Operations
2424 12 Officer, Recruiting and Retention Operations and Training
2525 13 Officer, S3, Executive Officer, Muscatatuck Urban Training
2626 14 Center Commander, Squadron Commander, Director of the
2727 15 Indiana Army National Guard Training Center, G1, Brigade
2828 16 Commander, Chief of Joint Staff, Division Chief for Leadership
2929 17 Development at the National Guard Bureau (NGB), Deputy
3030 18 Chief of Staff for Operations G3 at NGB, and now as The
3131 19 Adjutant General (TAG) of Indiana;
3232 20 Whereas, Major General Lyles has also served in overseas
3333 21 operations, as a Company Commander in Bosnia in 2002 and
3434 22 as a Battalion S1 in Kabul, Afghanistan, from 2004 to 2005;
3535 23 Whereas, During his 27 years of service, Major General
3636 24 Lyles has been awarded decorations including the Bronze Star,
3737 25 Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army
3838 26 Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with one oak

4040 1 leaf cluster, and Indiana Distinguished Service Medal with one
4141 2 oak leaf cluster, among many others;
4242 3 Whereas, After 25 years of honorable service, Major
4343 4 General Lyles was selected to be the 59th TAG of the Indiana
4444 5 National Guard on October 1, 2019, leading the community-
4545 6 based force of approximately 14,000 soldiers and airmen, who
4646 7 work to maintain readiness in the Hoosier State and around the
4747 8 globe;
4848 9 Whereas, Following an increase in manpower across the
4949 10 Hoosier state during the COVID-19 pandemic and while still
5050 11 having Indiana's military force remain agile and deployable,
5151 12 Major General Lyles was promoted from Brigadier General to
5252 13 Major General by Governor Eric Holcomb on December 17,
5353 14 2021; and
5454 15 Whereas, For his 27 years of continuous meritorious
5555 16 service to the State of Indiana and the nation, Major General
5656 17 Lyles' promotion to Major General is well deserved and should
5757 18 be celebrated: Therefore,
5858 19 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
5959 20 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
6060 21 concurring:
6161 22 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
6262 23 congratulates Major General Dale Lyles upon his promotion.
6363 24 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
6464 25 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Major General Dale
6565 26 Lyles.
