SANDLIN , read first time and referred to Committee on 2022 RC 1531/DI SM Introduced Second Regular Session 122nd General Assembly (2022) SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. _____ 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Major 2 General Dale Lyles upon his promotion. 3 Whereas, Major General Dale Lyles, a native of Salem, 4 Indiana, commissioned as an infantry officer in the United 5 States Army after graduating from Indiana University in 1989 6 and the Indiana Military Academy in 1994; 7 Whereas, Throughout his military career, Major General 8 Lyles served at nearly every level of leadership within the 9 Indiana Army National Guard, including as a Platoon Leader, 10 Program and Budget Officer, Company Commander, 11 Communications-Electronics Officer, Plans and Operations 12 Officer, Recruiting and Retention Operations and Training 13 Officer, S3, Executive Officer, Muscatatuck Urban Training 14 Center Commander, Squadron Commander, Director of the 15 Indiana Army National Guard Training Center, G1, Brigade 16 Commander, Chief of Joint Staff, Division Chief for Leadership 17 Development at the National Guard Bureau (NGB), Deputy 18 Chief of Staff for Operations G3 at NGB, and now as The 19 Adjutant General (TAG) of Indiana; 20 Whereas, Major General Lyles has also served in overseas 21 operations, as a Company Commander in Bosnia in 2002 and 22 as a Battalion S1 in Kabul, Afghanistan, from 2004 to 2005; 23 Whereas, During his 27 years of service, Major General 24 Lyles has been awarded decorations including the Bronze Star, 25 Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army 26 Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with one oak 2022 RC 1531/DI SM 2 1 leaf cluster, and Indiana Distinguished Service Medal with one 2 oak leaf cluster, among many others; 3 Whereas, After 25 years of honorable service, Major 4 General Lyles was selected to be the 59th TAG of the Indiana 5 National Guard on October 1, 2019, leading the community- 6 based force of approximately 14,000 soldiers and airmen, who 7 work to maintain readiness in the Hoosier State and around the 8 globe; 9 Whereas, Following an increase in manpower across the 10 Hoosier state during the COVID-19 pandemic and while still 11 having Indiana's military force remain agile and deployable, 12 Major General Lyles was promoted from Brigadier General to 13 Major General by Governor Eric Holcomb on December 17, 14 2021; and 15 Whereas, For his 27 years of continuous meritorious 16 service to the State of Indiana and the nation, Major General 17 Lyles' promotion to Major General is well deserved and should 18 be celebrated: Therefore, 19 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly 20 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives 21 concurring: 22 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly 23 congratulates Major General Dale Lyles upon his promotion. 24 SECTION 2.
