| 15 | 15 | | 3 Whereas, Remanufacturing is a comprehensive and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 4 rigorous industrial process by which a previously sold, leased, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 5 used, worn, remanufactured, or non-functional product or part |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 6 is returned to a like-new, same-as-when-new, or |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 7 better-than-when-new condition, from both a quality and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 8 performance perspective, through a controlled, reproducible, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 9 and sustainable process; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 10 Whereas, A 2012 United States International Trade |

| 23 | 23 | | 11 Commission (ITC) report found that remanufacturers support |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | 12 at least 180,000 full-time jobs in the U.S.; |

| 25 | 25 | | 13 Whereas, The ITC also reports that production of |

| 26 | 26 | | 14 remanufactured goods in the United States increased by 15 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | 15 percent from 2009 to 2011 and exports totaled $11.2 billion |

| 29 | 29 | | 17 Whereas, Remanufacturing is recognized by leading |

| 30 | 30 | | 18 universities, research institutions, and manufacturers in the |

| 31 | 31 | | 19 United States to have a positive impact on the environment, as |

| 36 | 36 | | 4 Remanufacturing Day, the State of Indiana can further promote |

| 37 | 37 | | 5 remanufacturing as environmentally friendly and economically |

| 39 | 39 | | 7 Whereas, To focus the nation's attention on the benefits of |

| 40 | 40 | | 8 remanufacturing, businesses, educational institutions, and |

| 41 | 41 | | 9 nonprofit organizations have joined together to celebrate |

| 42 | 42 | | 10 Remanufacturing Day and are encouraging their colleagues, |

| 43 | 43 | | 11 friends and families, and communities to learn more about the |

| 44 | 44 | | 12 benefits of remanufactured products: Therefore, |

| 45 | 45 | | 13 Be it resolved by the Senate of the |

| 47 | 47 | | 15 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate urges Governor Eric |
