SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION urging Governor Eric
2 Holcomb to proclaim April 14, 2022, Remanufacturing Day.
3 Whereas, Remanufacturing is a comprehensive and
4 rigorous industrial process by which a previously sold, leased,
5 used, worn, remanufactured, or non-functional product or part
6 is returned to a like-new, same-as-when-new, or
7 better-than-when-new condition, from both a quality and
8 performance perspective, through a controlled, reproducible,
9 and sustainable process;
10 Whereas, A 2012 United States International Trade
11 Commission (ITC) report found that remanufacturers support
12 at least 180,000 full-time jobs in the U.S.;
13 Whereas, The ITC also reports that production of
14 remanufactured goods in the United States increased by 15
15 percent from 2009 to 2011 and exports totaled $11.2 billion
16 annually;
17 Whereas, Remanufacturing is recognized by leading
18 universities, research institutions, and manufacturers in the
19 United States to have a positive impact on the environment, as

1 it diverts end-of-life products from landfills;
2 Whereas, By encouraging businesses, state agencies,
3 nonprofit organizations, schools, and individuals to celebrate
4 Remanufacturing Day, the State of Indiana can further promote
5 remanufacturing as environmentally friendly and economically
6 beneficial; and
7 Whereas, To focus the nation's attention on the benefits of
8 remanufacturing, businesses, educational institutions, and
9 nonprofit organizations have joined together to celebrate
10 Remanufacturing Day and are encouraging their colleagues,
11 friends and families, and communities to learn more about the
12 benefits of remanufactured products: Therefore,
13 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
14 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
15 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate urges Governor Eric
16 Holcomb to proclaim April 14, 2022, Remanufacturing Day.
17 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
18 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Governor Holcomb.
