23	17		1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana
24	18		2 Department of Transportation to rename the bridge on State
25	19		3 Highway 27 over I-70 as the "Officer Seara Burton Memorial
26	20		4 Bridge".
27	21		5 Whereas, Officer Seara Burton was born on December 17,
28	22		6 1993, in Richmond, Indiana, and was a life-long resident of the
29	23		7 area;
30	24		8 Whereas, Officer Burton graduated from Northeastern High
31	25		9 School, and then attended both the Indiana Law Enforcement
32	26		10 Academy and Vohne Liche Kennels;
33	27		11 Whereas, Officer Burton not only served four years on the
34	28		12 Richmond Police Department, but she also recently achieved
35	29		13 her dream of becoming a K-9 handler;
36	30		14 Whereas, Officer Burton was the victim of a gunshot wound
37	31		15 to the head while in the line of duty on the evening of August
38	32		16 10, 2022;
39	33		17 Whereas, After a courageous battle for her life, Officer Seara
40	34		18 Burton succumbed to her injury and died on September 18,
41	35		19 2022; and
42	36		20 Whereas, Officer Seara Burton #140/K9-2 dedicated her life
43	37		21 to law enforcement and service to the Richmond community,
44	38		22 ultimately losing her life as a direct result of a criminal act
45	39		23 while serving in the line of duty. She has been laid to rest in
46	40		24 Crown Hill Cemetery in the section dedicated to Heroes of
47	41		25 Public Safety: Therefore,

49	43		1 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
50	44		2 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
51	45		3 the Senate concurring:
52	46		4 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the
53	47		5 Indiana Department of Transportation to rename the bridge on
54	48		6 State Highway 27 over I-70 as the "Officer Seara Burton
55	49		7 Memorial Bridge" in honor of her service.
56	50		8 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
57	51		9 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to the
58	52		10 Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation.

61	55		Mr. Speaker: Your Committee on Roads and Transportation, to
62	56		which was referred House Concurrent Resolution 5, has had the same
