17 | 17 | | 3 Whereas, The Honorable Andy Cook was elected as the first |

18 | 18 | | 4 mayor of Westfield in 2008 and was reelected to his fourth term |

19 | 19 | | 5 in November of 2019. Prior to being elected mayor, Andy Cook |

20 | 20 | | 6 was the Westfield Town Council president, where he worked to |

21 | 21 | | 7 incorporate Westfield as a city; |
---|
22 | 22 | | 8 Whereas, In 2009, Mayor Cook developed the Westfield Youth |
---|
23 | 23 | | 9 Assistance Program, which provides early intervention to youth |
---|
24 | 24 | | 10 who are facing challenging life circumstances. This program |
---|
25 | 25 | | 11 coordinates the community's talents, services, and resources to |
---|
26 | 26 | | 12 help youth and empower families and caregivers. It has |
---|
27 | 27 | | 13 dramatically improved the lives of countless children and has |
---|
28 | 28 | | 14 been instrumental in reducing the number of youth in the |
---|
29 | 29 | | 15 county's judicial system by half; |
---|
30 | 30 | | 16 Whereas, Mayor Cook spearheaded the construction of the |
---|
31 | 31 | | 17 400-acre Grand Park Sports Campus, which opened in 2014, |
---|
32 | 32 | | 18 with the Grand Park Events Center opening in 2016. This |
---|
33 | 33 | | 19 magnificent, nationally recognized facility has drawn |
---|
34 | 34 | | 20 businesses to Westfield and 2.5 million visitors to the site |
---|
35 | 35 | | 21 annually. Notably, it is the home of the Indianapolis Colts |
---|
36 | 36 | | 22 training camp and the Pacers Athletic Center; |
---|
37 | 37 | | 23 Whereas, Early in his tenure, Mayor Cook launched the |
---|
38 | 38 | | 24 Grand Junction Task Group to study plans for improving |
---|
39 | 39 | | 25 Westfield's downtown. Its recommendations resulted in the |

40 | 40 | | 26 development of a six-acre park, the Grand Junction Plaza, |
---|
41 | 41 | | 27 which has won multiple awards and is appreciated by both |

44 | 44 | | 2 Whereas, The City of Westfield has experienced tremendous |

45 | 45 | | 3 growth under the leadership of Mayor Cook. An Indiana |

46 | 46 | | 4 University study recognized Westfield as the fastest-growing |
---|
47 | 47 | | 5 community in the State of Indiana in both 2021 and 2022. |

48 | 48 | | 6 Westfield now has a population of 50,000 people, with |
---|
49 | 49 | | 7 continued growth projected; |

50 | 50 | | 8 Whereas, Mayor Cook has expanded the system of trails |
---|
51 | 51 | | 9 throughout Westfield. He extended the Monon Trail north from |
---|
52 | 52 | | 10 Carmel, giving Westfield citizens access to Carmel and |
---|
53 | 53 | | 11 Indianapolis in the south, and he championed the construction |
---|
54 | 54 | | 12 of the Midland Trace Trail, extending east and west from |
---|
55 | 55 | | 13 Westfield to Noblesville; |
---|
56 | 56 | | 14 Whereas, Mayor Cook has been a phenomenal asset to the |
---|
57 | 57 | | 15 City of Westfield, by improving its economy and attracting |
---|
58 | 58 | | 16 businesses; and |

59 | 59 | | 17 Whereas, Mayor Cook has been an incredibly successful and |
---|
60 | 60 | | 18 deeply dedicated public servant for the people of Westfield: |
