1818 3 Whereas, Sally J. Siegrist was born on October 5, 1951, to
1919 4 Jane Palmblade Siegrist and Daniel D. Siegrist in Lafayette,
2020 5 Indiana;
2121 6 Whereas, Sally J. Siegrist graduated from Jefferson High

2424 1 School in 1969;
2525 2 Whereas, She received a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana
2626 3 University and a Masters of Business Administration from the
2727 4 Krannert School of Business at Purdue University;
2828 5 Whereas, An accomplished equestrian, Sally J. Siegrist won
2929 6 the Indiana Quarter Horse Association Queen contest in1974,
3030 7 which led to her representing Indiana at the All American
3131 8 Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio, the largest
3232 9 quarter horse show in the country;
3333 10 Whereas, She was crowned the Quarter Horse Congress
3434 11 Queen, and she traveled the eastern United States continuing
3535 12 her successful show career at major quarter horse show
3636 13 circuits and state fair horse shows nationally;
3737 14 Whereas, Sally J. Siegrist volunteered for local
3838 15 organizations including Court Appointed Special Advocates,
3939 16 Court Services Advisory Board, Riley Hospital for Children
4040 17 Northwest Region Fundraising Board, Rotary Club of
4141 18 Lafayette, Tippecanoe Arts Federation CPIC, and the Wabash
4242 19 River Enhancement Corporation Board;
4343 20 Whereas, Sally J. Siegrist was a member of the Tippecanoe
4444 21 County Council from 2014 to 2016 and served as a State
4545 22 Representative for District 26 in the 120th Indiana General
4646 23 Assembly;
4747 24 Whereas, During her tenure, all of the bills which she
4848 25 authored were signed into law, including House Bills 1001 and
4949 26 1004 in the 2018 legislative session;
5050 27 Whereas, Addressing human trafficking was very important
5151 28 to her, and she authored legislation, House Bill 1270, that was
5252 29 signed into law to improve Indiana's laws on fighting and
5353 30 preventing this criminal activity;
5454 31 Whereas, Sally J. Siegrist served as a community liaison for
5555 32 Congressman Jim Baird for two years from 2019 to 2020;
5656 33 Whereas, Sally J. Siegrist was awarded Indiana's highest

5959 1 honor, the Sagamore of the Wabash, from Governor Eric
6060 2 Holcomb in April 2021; and
6161 3 Whereas, Sally J. Siegrist passed away on May 1, 2022, and
6262 4 will be missed by all of her former colleagues in the Indiana
6363 5 General Assembly and her dedication and service to her
6464 6 community and the State of Indiana will continue to be fondly
6565 7 remembered by all: Therefore,
6666 8 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
6767 9 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
6868 10 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
6969 11 memorializes and celebrates the life of Representative Sally J.
