1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION recognizing Officer Dustin
2 Moody.
3 Whereas, In the early morning of June 25, 2022, Officer
4 Dustin Moody was seriously injured in a crash during a pursuit
5 in Johnson County;
6 Whereas, Officer Moody and the driver he was pursuing
7 crashed into an embankment, which killed the driver and left
8 Officer Moody paralyzed from the waist down;

1 Whereas, Officer Moody received injuries to his back, hip,
2 leg, and internal organs, and he had to undergo surgery and
3 months of inpatient rehabilitation;
4 Whereas, After seven months in the hospital and inpatient
5 rehabilitation, Officer Moody was able to return home to his
6 wife, Emily, and two young sons, four-year-old Nolan and
7 one-year-old Bennett;
8 Whereas, Officer Moody started his law enforcement career
9 in 2014 and served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Marion County
10 Sheriff's Office at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis;
11 Whereas, While serving full time in law enforcement, he
12 worked through St. Francis Hospital in the EMS education
13 department at the Beech Grove Fire Department part time,
14 showing a devotion to public safety;
15 Whereas, He has been an officer with the Trafalgar Police
16 Department since 2019 and became a full-time officer in 2020;
17 and
18 Whereas, Officer Moody is happy to be home with his loving
19 family and grateful for the support of his community:
20 Therefore,
21 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
22 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
23 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
24 recognizes Officer Dustin Moody, shares their deepest gratitude
25 to him, and wishes he and his family the best as they continue
26 to build their lives in our community.
27 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
28 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
29 Representative Robb Greene for distribution.
