Synopsis:  Twenty-first century scholars program. Requires each
public, charter, and state accredited nonpublic school to notify students
who are enrolled at the school and their parents of the qualifications for
and requirements of the twenty-first century scholars program while the
student is in grade 7 and grade 8.
Effective:  July 1, 2023.

SENATE BILL No. 10
A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
higher education.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
1 SECTION 1. IC 21-12-6-16 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
2 AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY
3 1, 2023]: Sec. 16. (a) As used in this section, "school" refers to a:
4 (1) public school (as defined by IC 20-18-2-15);
5 (2) charter school (as defined by IC 20-18-2-2.5); and
6 (3) state accredited nonpublic school (as defined by
7 IC 20-18-2-18.7).
8 (b) Beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, the governing
9 body, or the equivalent authority, of each school must notify each
10 student who is enrolled at the school and their parents of the
11 qualifications for and requirements of the program under this
12 chapter.
13 (c) The governing body, or the equivalent authority, of each
14 school must provide the notice described in subsection (b) while the
15 student is in grade 7 and grade 8.
