SENATE ENROLLED ACT No. 72 AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning education. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana: SECTION 1. IC 20-19-3-30 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2023]: Sec. 30. (a) Not later than October 1, 2023, each public elementary school, including a charter school, and state accredited nonpublic elementary school shall provide to the department the following information: (1) Whether the school provides instruction on cursive writing to students of the school. (2) If the school provides cursive writing instruction, the grade level of students to whom the instruction is provided. (b) Not later than December 1, 2023, the department shall: (1) prepare a report regarding the information that the department receives under subsection (a); and (2) submit the report described in subdivision (1) to the legislative council in an electronic format under IC 5-14-6.
