1313 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the
1414 2 Haven Youth Center for its 25 years of service to the youth of
1515 3 Martinsville.
1616 4 Whereas, The Haven Youth Center in Martinsville, Indiana,
1717 5 was established in 1998 by the First Christian Church of
1818 6 Martinsville as a safe place for middle school youth in grades
1919 7 five through eight to come after school to socialize with friends,
2020 8 play games, eat, study, learn new skills, and perform
2121 9 community service projects;
2222 10 Whereas, Youth at the center have been instrumental in the
2323 11 center's success by choosing the name, logo, and mission
2424 12 statement, picking out equipment, making a commercial, and
2525 13 inviting friends and community members to participate at the
2626 14 center;
2727 15 Whereas, Haven youth have been provided opportunities to
2828 16 experience a variety of events through the center, including an
2929 17 overnight prevention retreat, participation in the CATCH My
3030 18 Breath anti-vaping program, and taking part in positive action
3131 19 sessions to bolster self-esteem;
3232 20 Whereas, Over the years members of the First Christian
3333 21 Church and community grants have helped the Haven Youth
3434 22 Center purchase a van and a building to house the program,
3535 23 host retreats at a local campground, and establish a fund that
3636 24 gives permanent support for local youth, giving them positive
3737 25 reinforcement;

3939 1 Whereas, Community organizations who have contributed
4040 2 to the Haven Youth Center include the Morgan County
4141 3 Substance Abuse Commission, The Byrum Trust, Rotary Club,
4242 4 the Greater Martinsville Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club,
4343 5 Kiwanis Club, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, First
4444 6 Christian Church, Eastview Christian Church, and countless
4545 7 volunteers who have all worked tirelessly to make the program
4646 8 what it is today; and
4747 9 Whereas, For 25 years, local parents have trusted the
4848 10 Haven Youth Center to be a safe place for their children to
4949 11 drop in and mingle with friends and provide valuable guidance
5050 12 to ensure the next generation of Martinsville has the resources
5151 13 to succeed: Therefore,
5252 14 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
5353 15 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
5454 16 concurring:
5555 17 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
5656 18 congratulates the Haven Youth Center for its 25 years of service
5757 19 to the youth of Martinsville.
5858 20 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
5959 21 directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to all Haven
6060 22 Youth Center staff and volunteers.
