2626 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning

2828 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
2929 1 SECTION 1. IC 16-41-39.5 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
3030 2 AS A NEW CHAPTER TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE
3131 3 JULY 1, 2024]:
3232 4 Chapter 39.5. Childhood Scoliosis Screening
3333 5 Sec. 1. A health care provider who provides health care services
3434 6 to a child who is at least nine (9) years of age but less than thirteen
3535 7 (13) years of age shall, at the child's annual visit, do the following:
3636 8 (1) Determine whether the child has received a scoliosis
3737 9 screening in the last twelve (12) months.
3838 10 (2) If the child has received a scoliosis screening in the last
3939 11 twelve (12) months, determine the results of the screening
4040 12 and, if applicable, any recommended treatment.
4141 13 (3) If the child has not received a scoliosis screening in the last
4242 14 twelve (12) months, offer a scoliosis screening.
4343 15 Sec. 2. Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to require a
4444 16 parent or guardian to have their child receive a scoliosis screening.
