RESOLUTION No. ____
1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana
2 Department of Transportation to rename the overpass on
3 County Road 800 North over I-65 in Jackson County the "Lt.
4 Randy Davis Memorial Mile".
5 Whereas, Lieutenant Randy Davis was an instructor at the
6 Indiana Law Enforcement Academy for 30 years and a veteran
7 of the United States Marine Corps;
8 Whereas, Over the course of his career as an instructor, he
9 trained more than 16,000 officers in firearms, physical tactics,
10 and emergency vehicle operations;
11 Whereas, Lt. Davis was known to have an excellent memory
12 and would remember students' names years after he had trained
13 them;
14 Whereas, A proud Marine Corps veteran, his house was full
15 of Marine Corps memorabilia, and he had collected over 125
16 challenge coins, which is an impressive achievement within law
17 enforcement and the military;
18 Whereas, Lt. Davis enjoyed woodworking, cars, movies, and
19 collecting guns; and
20 Whereas, He was, and still is, well respected across the entire
21 law enforcement community: Therefore,
22 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
23 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
24 the Senate concurring:

1 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the
2 Indiana Department of Transportation to rename the overpass
3 on County Road 800 North over I-65 in Jackson County the "Lt.
4 Randy Davis Memorial Mile".
5 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
6 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to the
7 Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation.
