| 24 | 24 | | 8 Whereas, The American Red Cross provides about 40 percent |

| 25 | 25 | | 9 of the nation's blood supply, facilitating the donation of blood |

| 26 | 26 | | 10 to those who need it, including accident and burn victims, heart |

| 27 | 27 | | 11 surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | 12 treatment for leukemia or other cancers, or sickle cell disease; |

| 29 | 29 | | 13 Whereas, The nation is facing a blood shortage due to a |

| 30 | 30 | | 14 notable decline in blood donations; |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 15 Whereas, In times of crisis and strife, the Red Cross dedicates |

| 32 | 32 | | 16 all available resources to meet the blood needs of hospitals and |

| 33 | 33 | | 17 patients but cannot do it alone; and |

| 34 | 34 | | 18 Whereas, To overcome these immense challenges, the Red |
