88 2 High School's softball team on winning the 2023 IHSAA 2A

1010 4 Whereas, The North Posey High School softball team
1111 5 celebrated an undefeated season after their win against
1212 6 Andrean High School on June 9, 2023. This victory was also a
1313 7 redemption game for the Vikings, after having lost the 2A final
1414 8 in 2022;
1515 9 Whereas, Senior Erin Hoehn batted in the winning runs
1616 10 during the championship game, with an impressive walk-off
1717 11 home run, after which her team surrounded her in celebration
1818 12 as she reached home plate;
1919 13 Whereas, This team has impressive players, notably Hoehn
2020 14 and Maddy Olander. Hoehn broke a state finals record with 15

2323 1 strikeouts. Olander was presented the IHSAA 2023 Mental
2424 2 Attitude Award for 2A Softball, which is given for a
2525 3 combination of mental attitude, scholarship, leadership, and

2727 5 Whereas, This is the first state championship win for the
2828 6 North Posey softball team. Coach Gary Gentil could not be
2929 7 more proud of his team and this "storybook ending"; and
3030 8 Whereas, The North Posey High School softball team has
3131 9 earned this championship win through their incredible
3232 10 teamwork and dedication: Therefore,
3333 11 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
3434 12 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
3535 13 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
3636 14 congratulates the North Posey High School softball team on
3737 15 winning the 2023 IHSAA 2A State Championship.
3838 16 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
3939 17 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to the
4040 18 office of State Representative Wendy McNamara.
