1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION congratulating North Posey
2 High School's softball team on winning the 2023 IHSAA 2A
3 State Championship.
4 Whereas, The North Posey High School softball team
5 celebrated an undefeated season after their win against
6 Andrean High School on June 9, 2023. This victory was also a
7 redemption game for the Vikings, after having lost the 2A final
8 in 2022;
9 Whereas, Senior Erin Hoehn batted in the winning runs
10 during the championship game, with an impressive walk-off
11 home run, after which her team surrounded her in celebration
12 as she reached home plate;
13 Whereas, This team has impressive players, notably Hoehn
14 and Maddy Olander. Hoehn broke a state finals record with 15

1 strikeouts. Olander was presented the IHSAA 2023 Mental
2 Attitude Award for 2A Softball, which is given for a
3 combination of mental attitude, scholarship, leadership, and
4 athletic ability;
5 Whereas, This is the first state championship win for the
6 North Posey softball team. Coach Gary Gentil could not be
7 more proud of his team and this "storybook ending"; and
8 Whereas, The North Posey High School softball team has
9 earned this championship win through their incredible
10 teamwork and dedication: Therefore,
11 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
12 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
13 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
14 congratulates the North Posey High School softball team on
15 winning the 2023 IHSAA 2A State Championship.
16 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
17 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to the
18 office of State Representative Wendy McNamara.
