Rogers BILL STATUS: As Introduced FIRST SPONSOR: FUNDS AFFECTED:XGENERAL IMPACT: State DEDICATED FEDERAL Summary of Legislation: The bill requires the Professional Licensing Agency (PLA) to study occupational licensing laws enacted in other states and contact representatives of each of the occupations regulated by the agency for certain recommendations. The bill requires the PLA to submit a report with findings and recommendations to the General Assembly not later than October 31, 2024. (The introduced version of this bill was prepared by the Interim Study Committee on Employment and Labor.) Effective Date: Upon passage. Explanation of State Expenditures: The PLA would need an additional attorney and legal assistant in order to accomplish the bill’s requirements. Salary and fringe benefits for the additional positions would total $138,000. The PLA would likely be able to fund these positions within their current FY 2025 budget.
