SENATE BILL No. 57 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning motor vehicles. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana: 1 SECTION 1. IC 9-13-2-6.2 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE 2 AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 3 1, 2024]: Sec. 6.2. "Automated commercial motor vehicle" means 4 a commercial motor vehicle with respect to which at least one (1) 5 aspect of a safety critical control function of the commercial motor 6 vehicle occurs without direct input from an individual operating 7 the commercial motor vehicle. 8 SECTION 2. IC 9-13-2-31.1 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE 9 AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 10 1, 2024]: Sec. 31.1. "Commercial motor vehicle operator" means 11 an individual who meets all state and federal qualifications to 12 operate a commercial motor vehicle. 13 SECTION 3. IC 9-21-8-60 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE 14 AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 15 1, 2024]: Sec. 60.
