16	20		1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana
17	21		2 Department of Transportation to rename a section of State Road
18	22		3 13 in Syracuse, Indiana, the "Benjamin Fisher Memorial

20	24		5 Whereas, Benjamin Joseph Wayne Fisher was born on July
21	25		6 25, 1990, in South Bend, Indiana, to Michael A. Fisher and Jo
22	26		7 Whitesell Fisher;
23	27		8 Whereas, Benjamin was raised in Plymouth, Indiana, where
24	28		9 he attended St. Michael Catholic School and Plymouth
25	29		10 Community Schools before completing his high school
26	30		11 education through homeschooling;
27	31		12 Whereas, Benjamin worked as a shop steward for Traffic
28	32		13 Control Specialists, Inc. and was a member of Laborers'
29	33		14 International Union of North America Local #645;
30	34		15 Whereas, Outside of the workplace, Benjamin spent time
31	35		16 volunteering for his church and community, advocating for the
32	36		17 Right to Life and for victims of abuse;
33	37		18 Whereas, On Friday, July 26, 2019, Benjamin and a
34	38		19 coworker, Laura McCollister, were finishing up work removing
35	39		20 road construction signs for a utility pole project along State
36	40		21 Road 13 in Syracuse, Indiana, when Benjamin warned his
37	41		22 coworker to move before he was fatally struck by an oncoming
38	42		23 vehicle, his final actions likely saving his coworker's life; and
39	43		24 Whereas, It is fitting for the Indiana Department of

41	45		1 Transportation to rename a section of SR 13 between North
42	46		2 Lake View Trace and North Southshore Drive in Syracuse,
43	47		3 Indiana, the "Benjamin Fisher Memorial Highway":
44	48		4 Therefore,
45	49		5 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
46	50		6 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
47	51		7 concurring:
48	52		8 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the
49	53		9 Indiana Department of Transportation to rename a section of SR
50	54		10 13 between North Lake View Trace and North Southshore
51	55		11 Drive in Syracuse, Indiana, the "Benjamin Fisher Memorial
52	56		12 Highway".
53	57		13 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
54	58		14 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Jo Whitesell Fisher,
55	59		15 Nickolas Fisher, and the Commissioner of the Indiana
56	60		16 Department of Transportation.
