1212 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION memorializing Marta
1313 2 Moody.
1414 3 Whereas, Marta Moody was born to Patricia and Maurice
1515 4 Moody on November 4, 1951, in Lafayette, Indiana;
1616 5 Whereas, Marta attended Chesterton High School and was
1717 6 a graduate of Ball State University;
1818 7 Whereas, Having entered public service as a zoning
1919 8 planner in 1979, Marta was named Executive Director of the
2020 9 Delaware-Muncie Metropolitan Plan Commission in 1987,
2121 10 where she played a key role in researching and enabling major
2222 11 development projects on behalf of both Delaware County and
2323 12 the city of Muncie for forty-four years;
2424 13 Whereas, Marta worked to provide educational
2525 14 opportunities for students and had a longtime partnership with
2626 15 the Department of Urban Planning at Ball State University, a
2727 16 relationship that motivated the faculty to establish the Marta
2828 17 Moody Public Sector Awards;
2929 18 Whereas, Marta served on several boards, including the
3030 19 Cardinal Greenways Board of Directors, most recently as
3131 20 President, as well as the boards for the Indiana Association for
3232 21 Floodplain and Stormwater Management and the White River
3333 22 Watershed Project;
3434 23 Whereas, Marta worked towards the successful
3535 24 development of the Muncie trail system for more than twenty

3737 1 years, for which she received the 2023 Indiana Greenways
3838 2 Foundation Award in memoriam, and was honored with the
3939 3 Ball Brothers Foundation's John W. and Janice B. Fisher
4040 4 Governance Award for exemplary leadership, integrity,
4141 5 responsibility, and accountability; and
4242 6 Whereas, Marta's tireless support for students at Ball State
4343 7 University and her lifetime of public service in Muncie and
4444 8 neighboring communities will be greatly missed: Therefore,
4545 9 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
4646 10 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
4747 11 concurring:
4848 12 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
4949 13 memorializes Marta Moody.
5050 14 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
5151 15 to transmit copies of this Resolution to the family of Marta
5252 16 Moody.
