1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION memorializing Marta
2 Moody.
3 Whereas, Marta Moody was born to Patricia and Maurice
4 Moody on November 4, 1951, in Lafayette, Indiana;
5 Whereas, Marta attended Chesterton High School and was
6 a graduate of Ball State University;
7 Whereas, Having entered public service as a zoning
8 planner in 1979, Marta was named Executive Director of the
9 Delaware-Muncie Metropolitan Plan Commission in 1987,
10 where she played a key role in researching and enabling major
11 development projects on behalf of both Delaware County and
12 the city of Muncie for forty-four years;
13 Whereas, Marta worked to provide educational
14 opportunities for students and had a longtime partnership with
15 the Department of Urban Planning at Ball State University, a
16 relationship that motivated the faculty to establish the Marta
17 Moody Public Sector Awards;
18 Whereas, Marta served on several boards, including the
19 Cardinal Greenways Board of Directors, most recently as
20 President, as well as the boards for the Indiana Association for
21 Floodplain and Stormwater Management and the White River
22 Watershed Project;
23 Whereas, Marta worked towards the successful
24 development of the Muncie trail system for more than twenty

1 years, for which she received the 2023 Indiana Greenways
2 Foundation Award in memoriam, and was honored with the
3 Ball Brothers Foundation's John W. and Janice B. Fisher
4 Governance Award for exemplary leadership, integrity,
5 responsibility, and accountability; and
6 Whereas, Marta's tireless support for students at Ball State
7 University and her lifetime of public service in Muncie and
8 neighboring communities will be greatly missed: Therefore,
9 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
10 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
11 concurring:
12 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
13 memorializes Marta Moody.
14 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
15 to transmit copies of this Resolution to the family of Marta
16 Moody.
