LEISING , read first time and referred to Committee on 2024 RC 1520/DI SM Introduced Second Regular Session 123rd General Assembly (2024) SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. _____ 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing the 2 National FFA Organization and the Indiana FFA Association 3 for exemplary work in the advancement of agricultural 4 education in Indiana and across the country. 5 Whereas, The National FFA Organization, established in 6 1928, and the Indiana FFA Association, established in 1929, 7 were created to prepare future generations for the challenges 8 of feeding a growing population; 9 Whereas, The National FFA, which encompasses all 50 10 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, represents 11 more than 945,000 members and 9,150 chapters, while Indiana 12 FFA membership has grown to more than 14,000 members and 13 228 chapters; 14 Whereas, Both organizations have become dynamic youth 15 bodies with a mission to change lives and prepare members for 16 premier leadership, personal growth, and career success 17 through agricultural education; 18 Whereas, FFA accomplishes this mission by developing 19 agricultural leaders, increasing awareness of the importance 20 of agriculture, strengthening the confidence of students 21 involved, promoting the choice of agriculture as a career, 22 encouraging agricultural experience programs, highlighting 23 wise management of community resources, developing 24 members' interpersonal skills and character, promoting 25 cooperation and healthy lifestyles, and encouraging excellence 26 in scholarship; 2024 RC 1520/DI SM 2 1 Whereas, The members of FFA, through living by the motto 2 "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to 3 Serve," are able to put the leadership skills they develop into 4 action and are empowered to make a positive impact in their 5 communities; and 6 Whereas, FFA Week started in 1947 as an opportunity for 7 members, alumni, and sponsors to commend and advocate for 8 agricultural education, and will be celebrated this year from 9 February 17-24: Therefore, 10 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly 11 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives 12 concurring: 13 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly 14 recognizes the National FFA Organization and the Indiana FFA 15 Association for exemplary work in the advancement of 16 agricultural education in Indiana and across the country. 17 SECTION 2.
