15 | 15 | | 3 Whereas, Senator Jack Sandlin was born to Lewis and |

16 | 16 | | 4 Betty Sandlin in Brightwood, Indiana, in November 1950; |

17 | 17 | | 5 Whereas, Upon graduation from Greenwood High School |
---|
18 | 18 | | 6 in 1969, Jack began his lifelong dedication to public service by |
---|
19 | 19 | | 7 joining the Indianapolis Police Department (IPD) and enlisting |
---|
20 | 20 | | 8 in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam and at the White |
---|
21 | 21 | | 9 Sands Missile Range in New Mexico as a canine trainer and |
---|
22 | 22 | | 10 military police officer; |
---|
23 | 23 | | 11 Whereas, Following a two-year term on active duty, |

24 | 24 | | 12 Senator Sandlin returned to Indiana, enlisted in the Indiana |

25 | 25 | | 13 National Guard for an additional year, and resumed his career |

27 | 27 | | 15 Whereas, While at the IPD, Senator Sandlin served as a |

28 | 28 | | 16 beat cop, sniper with the SWAT Team, undercover investigator |

29 | 29 | | 17 in coordination with the United States Marshals Service, as |

30 | 30 | | 18 investigator under the Marion County Prosecutor, and as the |

31 | 31 | | 19 IPD Deputy Chief of Investigations before his retirement in |

49 | 49 | | 17 community as Perry Township Trustee from 1997 to 2006 and |

50 | 50 | | 18 as Indianapolis City-County Councilman from 2010 to 2016; |

51 | 51 | | 19 Whereas, Senator Sandlin faithfully and honorably served |

52 | 52 | | 20 the constituents of Senate District 36, encompassing portions |

53 | 53 | | 21 of Marion and Johnson counties, from his election in 2016 until |

55 | 55 | | 23 Whereas, During his tenure in the Senate, Senator Sandlin |

81 | 81 | | 16 Whereas, Senator Sandlin's passionate advocacy for men |

82 | 82 | | 17 and women in uniform, drive to improve the lives of Hoosiers, |
