LEISING , read first time and referred to Committee on 2024 RR 3509/DI SM Introduced Second Regular Session 123rd General Assembly (2024) SENATE RESOLUTION ____ MADAM PRESIDENT: I offer the following resolution and move its adoption: 1 A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring Indiana 4-H and 2 recognizing February 13, 2024, as Indiana 4-H Day at the 3 Statehouse. 4 Whereas, The National 4-H program serves youth in rural, 5 urban, and suburban communities throughout every state 6 across the nation; 7 Whereas, From its origins in Hamilton County in 1904, 8 Indiana's 4-H program has expanded to all 92 counties and is 9 delivered through Purdue Extension, which offers educational 10 programing in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, 11 healthy living, and civic engagement; 12 Whereas, The Indiana 4-H Youth Development mission is 13 to provide real-life educational opportunities that develop 14 young people who will have a positive impact in their 15 communities and the world, and it strives to be the premier 16 community-based program empowering young people to reach 17 their full potential; 18 Whereas, Community clubs, after-school programs, school 19 enrichment, camps, and workshops give youth across Indiana 2024 RR 3509/DI SM 2 1 an opportunity to be involved with the 4-H program; 2 Whereas, Members of Indiana 4-H cultivate life skills, 3 including confidence, independence, resilience, and 4 compassion, and are empowered with skills needed to lead for 5 a lifetime; 6 Whereas, Indiana 4-H Day at the Statehouse will take place 7 this year on February 13 and will provide Hoosier 4-H 8 members an opportunity to spend a day at the Statehouse 9 serving as pages, meeting members of the General Assembly, 10 and learning more about the legislative process; and 11 Whereas, It is proper to honor Indiana 4-H on the occasion 12 of 4-H Day at the Statehouse and to congratulate the 13 organization for preparing young Hoosiers to be productive 14 citizens and world-class leaders of tomorrow: Therefore, 15 Be it resolved by the Senate of the 16 General Assembly of the State of Indiana: 17 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate honors Indiana 4-H 18 and recognizes February 13, 2024, as Indiana 4-H Day at the 19 Statehouse. 20 SECTION 2.
