SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring BWX Technologies,
2 Inc. ("BWXT") on the 60th anniversary of its manufacturing
3 facility in Mount Vernon, Indiana.
4 Whereas, BWXT was originally founded as Babcock,
5 Wilcox & Company in 1867 and quickly became a leader in the
6 emerging energy industry, providing boilers for the first central
7 electrical station in the United States, New York City's first
8 subway, and President Theodore Roosevelt's Great White Fleet,
9 as well as providing design and components for the Hoover
10 Dam, the Manhattan Project, and the world's first nuclear-
11 powered submarine, the U.S.S. Nautilus;
12 Whereas, In 1962, BWXT, through its Nuclear Operations
13 Group, began developing the Mount Vernon site, which is
14 strategically located on the Ohio River and has been pivotal in
15 the economical shipment of heavy metal products globally and
16 represents a critical component of the United States' defense
17 manufacturing capabilities;
18 Whereas, BWXT's Nuclear Operations Group is renowned
19 for its production of vital components for naval nuclear
20 reactors used in submarines and aircraft carriers, such as

1 pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pressurizers, and steam
2 generators, under stringent quality programs;
3 Whereas, BWXT's Mount Vernon facility has demonstrated
4 a commitment to innovation and efficiency, with its 600,000
5 square feet of shop area, state of the art machine tools,
6 advanced manufacturing systems, and dedicated and skilled
7 workforce supporting exceptional engineering and
8 manufacturing capabilities;
9 Whereas, The facility's impact on the community includes
10 an $80 million investment in building improvements and new
11 machinery, the creation of 340 high-wage job opportunities,
12 and a long history of supporting local charities and civic
13 organizations, all demonstrating BWXT's confidence in
14 Indiana, its business environment, and its people; and
15 Whereas, BWXT's Mount Vernon facility celebrates 60
16 years of excellence in 2024: Therefore,
17 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
18 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
19 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate commends the
20 BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, Inc., facility in Mount
21 Vernon, Indiana, on 60 years of outstanding service and
22 applauds its workforce for their skill, dedication, and
23 contributions in support of the local community, the State of
24 Indiana, and our national defense.
25 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
26 directed to distribute a copy of this Resolution to the Board of
27 Directors of BWX Technologies, Inc.
