1313 MADAM PRESIDENT:
1414 I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1515 1 A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating the Lanesville
1616 2 Junior-Senior High School girls basketball team on winning the
1717 3 2024 Indiana High School Athletic Association ("IHSAA")
1818 4 Class 1A state championship title.
1919 5 Whereas, On February 24, 2024, the Lanesville
2020 6 Junior-Senior High School girls basketball team, the Lady
2121 7 Eagles, defeated the Marquette Catholic Blazers at Gainbridge
2222 8 Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to win the IHSAA Class 1A state
2323 9 championship title;
2424 10 Whereas, The Lady Eagles faced adversity early in the
2525 11 season with the loss of center Shelby Allen, who was sidelined
2626 12 with a torn ACL before returning in late December and helped
2727 13 the Eagles win their final 15 games of the season;
2828 14 Whereas, The Lady Eagles charged through the IHSAA
2929 15 state tournament with commanding wins over Jac-Cen-Del and
3030 16 North Central to advance to the state championship round;
3131 17 Whereas, During the state title game, the Lady Eagles were
3232 18 challenged again when a knee injury forced leading scorer
3333 19 Hadley Crosier from play with just over one minute remaining

3535 1 in the first quarter;
3636 2 Whereas, With Crosier cheering her team on from the
3737 3 bench, the Eagles responded with exceptional fortitude and
3838 4 perseverance, rallying behind strong performances from Allen,
3939 5 who scored a team-high 20 points, and Hylton Brumley, who
4040 6 scored 15 points and went 5 of 6 from the foul line in the final
4141 7 minute to put the game away with a final score of 51-43;
4242 8 Whereas, Following the championship game, Lanesville's
4343 9 Ava Kerr was recognized with the Patricia L. Roy Mental
4444 10 Attitude Award, presented annually to a senior who has
4545 11 demonstrated excellence in mental attitude, scholarship,
4646 12 leadership, and athletic ability; and
4747 13 Whereas, After winning a 1A state championship on a 29-2
4848 14 record in the 2022-2023 season, the Lady Eagles delivered a
4949 15 standout performance during the 2023-2024 season with a 29-1
5050 16 record, earning their 6th consecutive sectional championship
5151 17 and back-to-back state titles in Class 1A: Therefore,
5252 18 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
5353 19 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
5454 20 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate congratulates the
5555 21 Lanesville Junior-Senior High School girls basketball team on
5656 22 winning the 2024 IHSAA Class 1A state championship title.
5757 23 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
5858 24 directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to Lanesville
5959 25 Varsity Coach, Angie Hinton, Junior Varsity Coach, Hallie
6060 26 Hinton, each assistant coach, each student manager, and each
6161 27 member of the Lanesville girls basketball team.
