DIGEST OF INTRODUCED RESOL UTION
A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating the Lanesville
Junior-Senior High School girls basketball team on winning the
2024 Indiana High School Athletic Association ("IHSAA")
Class 1A state championship title.

SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:  
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating the Lanesville
2 Junior-Senior High School girls basketball team on winning the
3 2024 Indiana High School Athletic Association ("IHSAA")
4 Class 1A state championship title. 
5 Whereas, On February 24, 2024, the Lanesville
6 Junior-Senior High School girls basketball team, the Lady
7 Eagles, defeated the Marquette Catholic Blazers at Gainbridge
8 Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to win the IHSAA Class 1A state
9 championship title; 
10 Whereas, The Lady Eagles faced adversity early in the
11 season with the loss of center Shelby Allen, who was sidelined
12 with a torn ACL before returning in late December and helped
13 the Eagles win their final 15 games of the season;  
14 Whereas, The Lady Eagles charged through the IHSAA
15 state tournament with commanding wins over Jac-Cen-Del and
16 North Central to advance to the state championship round;  
17 Whereas, During the state title game, the Lady Eagles were
18 challenged again when a knee injury forced leading scorer
19 Hadley Crosier from play with just over one minute remaining

1 in the first quarter;
2 Whereas, With Crosier cheering her team on from the
3 bench, the Eagles responded with exceptional fortitude and
4 perseverance, rallying behind strong performances from Allen,
5 who scored a team-high 20 points, and Hylton Brumley, who
6 scored 15 points and went 5 of 6 from the foul line in the final
7 minute to put the game away with a final score of 51-43; 
8 Whereas, Following the championship game, Lanesville's
9 Ava Kerr was recognized with the Patricia L. Roy Mental
10 Attitude Award, presented annually to a senior who has
11 demonstrated excellence in mental attitude, scholarship,
12 leadership, and athletic ability; and
13 Whereas, After winning a 1A state championship on a 29-2
14 record in the 2022-2023 season, the Lady Eagles delivered a
15 standout performance during the 2023-2024 season with a 29-1
16 record, earning their 6th consecutive sectional championship
17 and back-to-back state titles in Class 1A:  Therefore, 
18	Be it resolved by the Senate of the
19 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
20 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate congratulates the
21 Lanesville Junior-Senior High School girls basketball team on
22 winning the 2024 IHSAA Class 1A state championship title. 
23 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
24 directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to Lanesville
25 Varsity Coach, Angie Hinton, Junior Varsity Coach, Hallie
26 Hinton, each assistant coach, each student manager, and each
27 member of the Lanesville girls basketball team.
