HOUSE BILL No. 1122 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning criminal law and procedure. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana: 1 SECTION 1. IC 35-44.1-2-15 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA 2 CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS 3 [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025]: Sec. 15. (a) A law enforcement officer: 4 (1) lawfully engaged in the execution of the law enforcement 5 officer's duties; and 6 (2) who reasonably believes that a person's presence within 7 twenty-five (25) feet of the law enforcement officer will 8 interfere with the performance of the law enforcement 9 officer's duties; 10 may order the person to stop approaching. 11 (b) A person who knowingly or intentionally approaches within 12 twenty-five (25) feet of a law enforcement officer lawfully engaged 13 in the execution of the law enforcement officer's duties after the 14 law enforcement officer has ordered the person to stop 15 approaching in accordance with subsection (a) commits unlawful 16 encroachment on a law enforcement officer, a Class C 17 misdemeanor. 2025 IN 1122—LS 6743/DI 106
