42+criminal law and procedure.
1443 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
15-SECTION 1. IC 35-44.1-2-15 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA
16-CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS
17-[EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025]: Sec. 15. (a) A law enforcement officer:
18-(1) lawfully engaged in the execution of the law enforcement
19-officer's duties; and
20-(2) who reasonably believes that a person's presence within
21-twenty-five (25) feet of the law enforcement officer will
22-interfere with the performance of the law enforcement
23-officer's duties;
24-may order the person to stop approaching.
25-(b) A person who knowingly or intentionally approaches within
26-twenty-five (25) feet of a law enforcement officer lawfully engaged
27-in the execution of the law enforcement officer's duties after the
28-law enforcement officer has ordered the person to stop
29-approaching in accordance with subsection (a) commits unlawful
30-encroachment on a law enforcement officer, a Class C
31-misdemeanor.
