Synopsis:  Supplemental structured family care distribution. Requires
the office of the secretary of family and social services to distribute
$6,000 to an individual if the individual's child or dependent received
structured family caregiving services for at least three months during
the 2024 calendar year. Makes an appropriation.
Effective:  July 1, 2025.

HOUSE BILL No. 1357
A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
human services and to make an appropriation.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
1 SECTION 1. IC 12-8-1.5-21 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
2 AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY
3 1, 2025]: Sec. 21. (a) As used in this section, "qualified individual"
4 means an individual whose child or dependent received structured
5 family caregiving services for at least three (3) months during the
6 2024 calendar year through the structured family caregiving
7 program administered by the office of the secretary under:
8 (1) a Medicaid health and wellness waiver;
9 (2) a Medicaid home and community based services waiver;
10 (3) a Medicaid traumatic brain injury waiver; or
11 (4) another program administered by the office of the
12 secretary;
13 regardless of whether the services were provided in consecutive
14 months.
15 (b) Not later than September 1, 2025, the office of the secretary
16 shall distribute an amount equal to:
17 (1) six thousand dollars ($6,000); multiplied by

1 (2) the number of the qualified individual's children and
2 dependents who received structured family caregiving
3 services for at least three (3) months during the 2024 calendar
4 year.
5 (c) There is appropriated from the state general fund to the
6 office of the secretary for the state fiscal year beginning July 1,
7 2025, and ending June 30, 2026, an amount sufficient to make the
8 distributions required under this section.
9 (d) This section expires July 1, 2026.
