2727 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
2828 human services.
2929 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
3030 1 SECTION 1. IC 12-15-1.3-27 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA
3131 2 CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS
3232 3 [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025]: Sec. 27. (a) As used in this section,
3333 4 "health related social needs" means an individual's unmet, adverse
3434 5 social conditions that contribute to poor health outcomes, such as
3535 6 food insecurity, housing instability, unemployment, or lack of
3636 7 transportation.
3737 8 (b) Not later than October 1, 2025, the office of the secretary
3838 9 shall apply to the United States Department of Health and Human
3939 10 Services for approval of a Section 1115 Medicaid demonstration
4040 11 waiver to provide Medicaid coverage for health related social
4141 12 needs, including coverage for the following:
4242 13 (1) Housing supports.
4343 14 (2) Nutrition supports.
4444 15 (3) Any other health related social needs services identified by
4545 16 the office of the secretary.
