Synopsis:  Medicaid coverage for health related social needs. Requires
the office of the secretary of family and social services to apply, not
later than October 1, 2025, for approval of a Section 1115 Medicaid
demonstration waiver to provide coverage for health related social
needs.
Effective:  July 1, 2025.

HOUSE BILL No. 1360
A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
human services.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
1 SECTION 1. IC 12-15-1.3-27 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA
2 CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS
3 [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025]: Sec. 27. (a) As used in this section,
4 "health related social needs" means an individual's unmet, adverse
5 social conditions that contribute to poor health outcomes, such as
6 food insecurity, housing instability, unemployment, or lack of
7 transportation.
8 (b) Not later than October 1, 2025, the office of the secretary
9 shall apply to the United States Department of Health and Human
10 Services for approval of a Section 1115 Medicaid demonstration
11 waiver to provide Medicaid coverage for health related social
12 needs, including coverage for the following:
13 (1) Housing supports.
14 (2) Nutrition supports.
15 (3) Any other health related social needs services identified by
16 the office of the secretary.
