HOUSE BILL No. 1407 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning health. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana: 1 SECTION 1. IC 16-20-1-31.4 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA 2 CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS 3 [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025]: Sec. 31.4. (a) A local health 4 department shall provide a water quality test kit to an individual 5 who: 6 (1) resides within the jurisdiction of the local health 7 department; and 8 (2) submits a request form prescribed by the local health 9 department. 10 (b) A local health department shall issue a water quality test kit 11 to an individual who meets the requirements under this section not 12 later than ten (10) days after the request is submitted to the local 13 health department and at no cost to the individual. 14 (c) A water quality test kit provided under this section must 15 have the capacity to detect arsenic, fluoride, lead, mercury, and 16 nitrate. 17 (d) An individual may be provided a maximum of three (3) 2025 IN 1407—LS 7572/DI 153 2 1 water quality test kits per calendar year under this section. 2025 IN 1407—LS 7572/DI 153
