1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring Captain Adam J.
2 Kuspa.
3 Whereas, Adam J. Kuspa passed away on Monday, January
4 6, 2025, at 41 years old; 
5 Whereas, Adam was born on May 19, 1983, in South Bend,
6 Indiana, to Ervin and Sue Kuspa, who survive him; 
7 Whereas, From a young age, Adam had a passion for
8 firefighting, and he would often chase fire trucks down the
9 street and play firefighter with his older brother; 
10 Whereas, At the age of 15, Adam began his firefighting
11 career as an explorer for the Portage Township Fire
12 Department. He later worked part-time at the Warren Township
13 Fire Department, for the Clay Fire Territory, and at the

1 University of Notre Dame; 
2 Whereas, In 2006, his dream of becoming a full-time
3 firefighter was realized when he joined the City of Elkhart Fire
4 Department; 
5 Whereas, Throughout his career, Adam dedicated himself to
6 the fire service, earning several promotions, with his most
7 recent being named captain; 
8 Whereas, Adam's loved ones remember him for the laughter
9 that filled a room. He also built a strong support system for his
10 parents, siblings, wife, children, nieces, nephews, friends, and
11 colleagues; and
12 Whereas, Adam J. Kuspa was a dedicated firefighter who
13 selflessly risked his life to protect his community. He inspired
14 those around him with his hard work and unwavering
15 commitment to the fire service: Therefore,
16 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
17 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
18 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
19 honors Captain Adam J. Kuspa of the Elkhart Fire Department.
20 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
21 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
22 Representative Doug Miller for distribution.
