1515 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the National
1616 2 Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc., Indianapolis Chapter.
1717 3 Whereas, The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.,
1818 4 Indianapolis Chapter (NCBW) was organized in 1982 and has
1919 5 a vision for a brighter future for black women and girls who
2020 6 live in a world where socio-economic inequity does not exist;
2121 7 Whereas, The NCBW is a national non-profit organization
2222 8 that advocates on behalf of black women to promote health,
2323 9 education, economic empowerment, strategic alliances, and
2424 10 civic engagement;
2525 11 Whereas, The NCBW hosts the Academy for girls, a 9-
2626 12 month mentoring and leadership program for black girls in the
2727 13 Indianapolis school system;
2828 14 Whereas, NCBW is concerned with the well-being of the
2929 15 whole community and the whole person, physically,
3030 16 emotionally, and spiritually, with a primary focus in the area
3131 17 of Family & Childhood Obesity, Cancer/Health Disparities,
3232 18 and Metabolic Disease;
3333 19 Whereas, NCBW supports services that help youth achieve
3434 20 their educational goals including supporting positive
3535 21 experiences, fostering positive self-perception and self-respect,
3636 22 encouraging excellence in education, and promoting the pursuit
3737 23 of positive lifelong goals;

3939 1 Whereas, NCBW supports advocacy agencies, voter
4040 2 education and registration, increasing women candidates
4141 3 running for political office, issuing timely policy alerts, and
4242 4 issuing position papers on public policy platform issues;
4343 5 Whereas, NCBW supports leadership development, helping
4444 6 to expand the capacity of black women and girls to perform in
4545 7 leadership roles within the community, workplace, school, and
4646 8 organizations; and
4747 9 Whereas, The NCBW works to influence policy that
4848 10 promotes gender equality in health, education, and economic
4949 11 empowerment: Therefore,
5050 12 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
5151 13 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
5252 14 concurring:
5353 15 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
5454 16 recognizes the ongoing efforts of the National Coalition of 100
5555 17 Black Women, Inc., Indianapolis Chapter for their advocacy,
5656 18 dedication, and service to our community.
5757 19 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
5858 20 to transmit five copies of this Resolution to the National
5959 21 Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Indianapolis Chapter.
