21 | 21 | | 7 Whereas, The NCBW is a national non-profit organization |

22 | 22 | | 8 that advocates on behalf of black women to promote health, |

23 | 23 | | 9 education, economic empowerment, strategic alliances, and |

24 | 24 | | 10 civic engagement; |

25 | 25 | | 11 Whereas, The NCBW hosts the Academy for girls, a 9- |

26 | 26 | | 12 month mentoring and leadership program for black girls in the |
---|
27 | 27 | | 13 Indianapolis school system; |
---|
28 | 28 | | 14 Whereas, NCBW is concerned with the well-being of the |
---|
29 | 29 | | 15 whole community and the whole person, physically, |
---|
30 | 30 | | 16 emotionally, and spiritually, with a primary focus in the area |

31 | 31 | | 17 of Family & Childhood Obesity, Cancer/Health Disparities, |

32 | 32 | | 18 and Metabolic Disease; |

33 | 33 | | 19 Whereas, NCBW supports services that help youth achieve |

34 | 34 | | 20 their educational goals including supporting positive |

35 | 35 | | 21 experiences, fostering positive self-perception and self-respect, |

36 | 36 | | 22 encouraging excellence in education, and promoting the pursuit |

50 | 50 | | 12 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly |

54 | 54 | | 16 recognizes the ongoing efforts of the National Coalition of 100 |

55 | 55 | | 17 Black Women, Inc., Indianapolis Chapter for their advocacy, |

56 | 56 | | 18 dedication, and service to our community. |

57 | 57 | | 19 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed |
