JACKSON L, HUNLEY, RANDOLPH, SPENCER, TAYLOR , read first time and referred to Committee on 2025 DC 1902/DI tg Introduced First Regular Session 124th General Assembly (2025) SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. _____ 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the National 2 Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc., Indianapolis Chapter. 3 Whereas, The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., 4 Indianapolis Chapter (NCBW) was organized in 1982 and has 5 a vision for a brighter future for black women and girls who 6 live in a world where socio-economic inequity does not exist; 7 Whereas, The NCBW is a national non-profit organization 8 that advocates on behalf of black women to promote health, 9 education, economic empowerment, strategic alliances, and 10 civic engagement; 11 Whereas, The NCBW hosts the Academy for girls, a 9- 12 month mentoring and leadership program for black girls in the 13 Indianapolis school system; 14 Whereas, NCBW is concerned with the well-being of the 15 whole community and the whole person, physically, 16 emotionally, and spiritually, with a primary focus in the area 17 of Family & Childhood Obesity, Cancer/Health Disparities, 18 and Metabolic Disease; 19 Whereas, NCBW supports services that help youth achieve 20 their educational goals including supporting positive 21 experiences, fostering positive self-perception and self-respect, 22 encouraging excellence in education, and promoting the pursuit 23 of positive lifelong goals; 2025 DC 1902/DI tg 2 1 Whereas, NCBW supports advocacy agencies, voter 2 education and registration, increasing women candidates 3 running for political office, issuing timely policy alerts, and 4 issuing position papers on public policy platform issues; 5 Whereas, NCBW supports leadership development, helping 6 to expand the capacity of black women and girls to perform in 7 leadership roles within the community, workplace, school, and 8 organizations; and 9 Whereas, The NCBW works to influence policy that 10 promotes gender equality in health, education, and economic 11 empowerment: Therefore, 12 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly 13 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives 14 concurring: 15 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly 16 recognizes the ongoing efforts of the National Coalition of 100 17 Black Women, Inc., Indianapolis Chapter for their advocacy, 18 dedication, and service to our community. 19 SECTION 2.
