1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the
2 Brownsburg High School football team on winning the 2024
3 Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Class 6A
4 state championship title.
5 Whereas, On November 29, 2024, the Brownsburg High
6 School football team finalized their season at Lucas Oil
7 Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, by winning their third
8 football state championship title in school history and first title
9 since 1985;
10 Whereas, With a season record of 12-1, the Brownsburg
11 Bulldogs, ranked first overall in Class 6A, advanced to the state
12 championship game against Westfield High School after
13 multiple thrilling match-ups, including a 28-point second half
14 comeback against Ben Davis in their sectional match-up,  a
15 two-point conversion with 13 seconds left to win 22-21 at their
16 regional game against Lawrence North, and an interception in
17 the final seconds to beat Center Grove 31-27 at Semi-State;
18 Whereas, After Westfield led for the first half of the
19 championship game, the Bulldogs rallied to tie the game 10-10
20 in the third quarter following a 71-yard touchdown on a screen
21 pass from Oscar Frye to Kovon Sumpter-Bey on third-and-19; 
22 Whereas, The Bulldogs' momentum only ramped up during
23 the fourth quarter, when in a span of 54 seconds, they took a
24 22-10 lead when senior quarterback Iosua Stephens found
25 sophomore Branden Sharpe for a 20-yard touchdown on
26 fourth-and-three, followed closely by a blocked punt by  Jamere

1 Pendleton, leading to a special teams touchdown;
2 Whereas, With six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter
3 and Westfield on the Bulldogs' 31-yard line, junior Drew Bostic
4 solidified Brownsburg's win when he intercepted a desperation
5 pass on the goal line;
6 Whereas, Through grit and determination, the Brownsburg
7 Bulldogs won the state championship game with a final score
8 of 22-17; 
9 Whereas, Following the game, senior quarterback  Iosua
10 Stephens was awarded the Phil N. Eskew Mental Attitude
11 Award for Class 6A; and
12 Whereas, Under the leadership of Head Coach John Hart,
13 the Bulldogs finished their 2024 season with a final record of
14 13-1 and their first state football title in almost forty years:
15 Therefore, 
16 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
17 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
18	concurring:
19 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
20 congratulates the Brownsburg High School football team on
21 winning the 2024 IHSAA 6A state championship.
22 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
23 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Head Coach John Hart,
24 Assistant Coaches Derek Hart and JT Whitaker, Statistician
25 Thomas Robbins, and each member of the Brownsburg High
26 School football team.
