RESOLUTION No. _____
1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Emergency
2 Medical Service (EMS) providers in Indiana and recognizing those
3 who gave their lives in the line of duty.
4 Whereas, Indiana Emergency Medical Services is a system
5 that provides emergency medical care to Hoosiers more than
6 2,000 times per day;
7 Whereas, EMS is the front line of the health care system
8 and proudly stands at the intersection of health care, public
9 health, and public safety;
10 Whereas, EMS providers are altruistic at heart and
11 recognize the risk involved in the line of duty;
12 Whereas, In the past five years, twenty Indiana first
13 responders have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty,
14 each receiving the EMS Star of Life designation as a result; and
15 Whereas, The EMS Star of Life designees in the past five
16 years are Bernard Noll, Brandon Staley, Bruce DeArk, Gerald
17 Brooks, John Schoffstall, Joshua Ramirez, Kelly Lee Mikesell,
18 Kurt Mathews, Kyle Martincic, Kyle Osgood, Larry Nuchols,
19 Mark Gillam, Mark Rapp, Martin Meyers, Matthew Bennett,
20 Michael Wilcox, Richard Potter, Robert Craig, Robert Cree,
21 and Scott Gordon: Therefore,
22 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
23 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
24 concurring:

1 SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly appreciates all
2 EMS providers for assisting with emergency medical care to
3 Hoosiers and remembers the first responders who made the
4 ultimate sacrifice.
5 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
6 to transmit copies of this Resolution to the families of the EMS
7 providers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
