1313 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Calleigh
1414 2 Neal for being named Distinguished Young Woman of Indiana
1515 3 for 2025.
1616 4 Whereas, Calleigh Neal is a senior at Avon High School
1717 5 (AHS), where she serves as student body president, an officer
1818 6 in DECA and the Avon Youth Civic Engagement Council, and
1919 7 member of the National Honor Society and National Spanish
2020 8 Honor Society;
2121 9 Whereas, Calleigh is also a four-year member of the AHS
2222 10 girls golf team and has letters in golf, academics, DECA, and
2323 11 show choir, all while maintaining a ranking in the top one
2424 12 percent of her class throughout her high school career;
2525 13 Whereas, Outside of her grueling school schedule, Calleigh
2626 14 leads Vacation Bible School, babysits, tutors younger students,
2727 15 and enjoys music, challenging books, and lively conversation--
2828 16 sometimes all at the same time;
2929 17 Whereas, Distinguished Young Women (DYW) is the oldest
3030 18 and largest national scholarship program that promotes and
3131 19 rewards scholastics, leadership, and talent in high-school-age
3232 20 young women, with over 780,000 young women having
3333 21 competed in the program at the local, state, and national levels;
3434 22 Whereas, DYW competitions consist of five categories:
3535 23 scholastics, interview, self-expression, fitness, and talent;
3636 24 Whereas, In the summer of 2024, Calleigh competed in the

3838 1 Avon DYW program, taking prizes in scholastics and interview
3939 2 and winning the overall title;
4040 3 Whereas, Calleigh competed in the Indiana DYW program
4141 4 in February 2025, taking first place in scholastics, interview,
4242 5 and self-expression, and winning the overall title to become the
4343 6 first AHS student to win the honor of Distinguished Young
4444 7 Woman of Indiana;
4545 8 Whereas, Calleigh will travel to Mobile, Alabama, in June
4646 9 to compete for Distinguished Young Woman of America and
4747 10 spend the next year representing DYW and Indiana at
4848 11 community events throughout the state;
4949 12 Whereas, In addition to being Distinguished Young Woman
5050 13 of Indiana, Calleigh is, among other honors, the reigning
5151 14 Optimist International Oratorical World Champion, a National
5252 15 Merit Finalist, a United States Presidential Scholars candidate,
5353 16 and one of two Indiana delegates for the highly selective United
5454 17 States Senate Youth Program; and
5555 18 Whereas, It is fitting to recognize a young woman who,
5656 19 through her academic excellence, extensive community
5757 20 engagement, and exceptional potential, is truly distinguished:
5858 21 Therefore,
5959 22 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
6060 23 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
6161 24 concurring:
6262 25 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
6363 26 congratulates Calleigh Neal for being named Distinguished
6464 27 Young Woman of Indiana for 2025.
6565 28 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
6666 29 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Calleigh Neal.
