1515 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing the 50th
1616 2 anniversary of Columbus Youth Hockey, Inc. (CYH) and
1717 3 congratulating the Columbus Icemen (Icemen) on winning the
1818 4 2025 Indiana State High School Hockey Association (ISHSHA)
1919 5 Class 2A state championship.
2020 6 Whereas, Beginning its journey as a non-profit
2121 7 organization in 1974, CYH celebrated its 50th anniversary in
2222 8 2024;
2323 9 Whereas, Today, nearly 150 youth participate in the sport
2424 10 of ice hockey in CYH, coming from Columbus and the
2525 11 surrounding communities to develop athleticism and
2626 12 friendships while growing as teammates;
2727 13 Whereas, The CYH program fields seven travel teams of
2828 14 players between the ages of five and fifteen competing as the
2929 15 Columbus Flames who have achieved their own success
3030 16 through victories, while the Icemen represent CYH in the
3131 17 ISHSHA;
3232 18 Whereas, In the 2025 state tournament, the Icemen defeated
3333 19 Lake Central Blue by a score of 7-1, and then, through smart
3434 20 offense, aggressive defense, and skillful play in the net by the
3535 21 goalie, shut out Bloomington by a score of 4-0 and Westfield by
3636 22 a score of 5-0; and
3737 23 Whereas, The Icemen captured the ISHSHA Class 2A
3838 24 championship by defeating the Adams Eagles by a score of 4-2,
3939 25 marking the seventh state championship for the Icemen, their

4141 1 second championship in the last five years, and their third
4242 2 appearance in the state championship in the last five seasons:
4343 3 Therefore,
4444 4 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
4545 5 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
4646 6 concurring:
4747 7 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
4848 8 recognizes the 50th Anniversary of Columbus Youth Hockey,
4949 9 Inc. and thanks the organization for successfully enhancing the
5050 10 lives of youth in the community by developing athletes into
5151 11 skilled ice hockey players in a fun, challenging atmosphere
5252 12 while demonstrating sportsmanship and teamwork.
5353 13 SECTION 2. That the Indiana General Assembly
5454 14 congratulates the Columbus Icemen for winning the 2025
5555 15 Indiana State High School Hockey Association Class 2A state
5656 16 championship.
5757 17 SECTION 3. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
5858 18 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Head Coach Troy
5959 19 Tyner; assistant coaches Geoff Hannen, Dave Weed, Noah
6060 20 Carlock, Aaron Jones, and Walter Copas; and each member of
6161 21 the Columbus Icemen hockey team.
