DIGEST OF INTRODUCED RESOLUTION
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing the 50th anniversary
of Columbus Youth Hockey, Inc. (CYH) and congratulating the
Columbus Icemen (Icemen) on winning the 2025 Indiana State High
School Hockey Association (ISHSHA) Class 2A state championship.

RESOLUTION No. _____
1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing the 50th
2 anniversary of Columbus Youth Hockey, Inc. (CYH) and
3 congratulating the Columbus Icemen (Icemen) on winning the
4 2025 Indiana State High School Hockey Association (ISHSHA)
5 Class 2A state championship.
6 Whereas, Beginning its journey as a non-profit
7 organization in 1974, CYH celebrated its 50th anniversary in
8 2024;
9 Whereas, Today, nearly 150 youth participate in the sport
10 of ice hockey in CYH, coming from Columbus and the
11 surrounding communities to develop athleticism and
12 friendships while growing as teammates;
13 Whereas, The CYH program fields seven travel teams of
14 players between the ages of five and fifteen competing as the
15 Columbus Flames who have achieved their own success
16 through victories, while the Icemen represent CYH in the
17 ISHSHA;
18 Whereas, In the 2025 state tournament, the Icemen defeated
19 Lake Central Blue by a score of 7-1, and then, through smart
20 offense, aggressive defense, and skillful play in the net by the
21 goalie, shut out Bloomington by a score of 4-0 and Westfield by
22 a score of 5-0; and
23 Whereas, The Icemen captured the ISHSHA Class 2A
24 championship by defeating the Adams Eagles by a score of 4-2,
25 marking the seventh state championship for the Icemen, their

1 second championship in the last five years, and their third
2 appearance in the state championship in the last five seasons:
3 Therefore,
4 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
5 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
6 concurring:
7 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
8 recognizes the 50th Anniversary of Columbus Youth Hockey,
9 Inc. and thanks the organization for successfully enhancing the
10 lives of youth in the community by developing athletes into
11 skilled ice hockey players in a fun, challenging atmosphere
12 while demonstrating sportsmanship and teamwork.
13 SECTION 2. That the Indiana General Assembly
14 congratulates the Columbus Icemen for winning the 2025
15 Indiana State High School Hockey Association Class 2A state
16 championship.
17 SECTION 3. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
18 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Head Coach Troy
19 Tyner; assistant coaches Geoff Hannen, Dave Weed, Noah
20 Carlock, Aaron Jones, and Walter Copas; and each member of
21 the Columbus Icemen hockey team.
