RESOLUTION No. _____
1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Magistrate
2 Judge Andre Gammage.
3 Whereas, Magistrate Judge Andre Gammage is a graduate
4 of the Valparaiso University and the Valparaiso University
5 School of Law;
6 Whereas, Judge Gammage began his legal career as a St.
7 Joseph County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney before becoming
8 the managing partner for the Law Office of Berger;
9 Whereas, Judge Gammage was appointed to serve as the St.
10 Joseph Circuit Court Magistrate Judge, presiding over the
11 Civil Protective Order Court from 2014 until 2021;
12 Whereas, Judge Gammage currently presides over the
13 Veterans Treatment Court, where he assists veterans with
14 mental health and substance abuse illnesses navigate through
15 lower-level criminal cases;

17 Whereas, In 2019, Judge Gammage developed an
18 expungement initiative to help St. Joseph County residents in,
19 the initiative in partnership with the St. Joseph County
20 Prosecutor's Office, the University of Notre Dame Law School,
21 and other local partners, has processed over 1,500
22 expungements;
23 Whereas, Judge Gammage has provided leadership and
24 mentorship for the past 30 years to youth, from co-founding

1 Leaders and Positive Role Models to teaching students about
2 domestic violence awareness in South Bend schools;
3 Whereas, Judge Gammage has served on the Indiana
4 Domestic Relations Committee, the Indiana Judicial Education
5 Committee, and other committees that provide legal access to
6 residents;
7 Whereas, Judge Gammage served as a faculty member for
8 the National Judicial College of Juvenile and Family Court
9 Judges, teaches Intensive Trial Advocacy at the University of
10 Notre Dame School of Law, serves as Chairman of the Trustee
11 Board at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, is on the
12 board for the YMCA of Greater Michiana, is a member of the
13 100 Black Men of Greater South Bend, and is moderator for
14 South Bend Group Violence Intervention;
15 Whereas, Judge Gammage's recognitions include a:
16 commendation from the State of Alabama, a commendation
17 from the South Bend Police Department for life saving actions,
18 and a proclamation from Mayor Pete Buttigieg;
19 Whereas, Judge Gammage has received a Certificate of
20 Graduation from the Indiana Judicial College, the Key to the
21 City of South Bend, the Faithful Community Leader Award, the
22 Roland Kelly Award, and the Drum Major Award; and
23 Whereas, Judge Gammage is the proud father of Austin,
24 Valencia, Tre, and DeLorean Gammage: Therefore,
25
26 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
27 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
28 concurring:
29 SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly recognizes and
30 thanks Magistrate Judge Andre Gammage for his dedicated
31 service to St. Joseph County.
32 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
33 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Magistrate Judge Andre
34 Gammage.
