1342 A JOINT RESOLUTION requesting Congress to call a Convention
1443 for proposing Amendments to the Constitution of the United States
1544 concerning congressional term limits.
1645 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
17-SECTION 1. That the General Assembly of the State of Indiana
18-makes application to the Congress of the United States for a
19-Convention for proposing Amendments under Article V of the
20-Constitution of the United States to propose amendments to the
21-Constitution of the United States.
22-SECTION 2. That such a convention called under Article V be
23-limited to proposing amendments to the Constitution of the United
24-States that do both of the following:
25-(1) Set a limit on the number of terms that a person may be
26-elected as a Member of the United States House of
27-Representatives.
28-(2) Set a limit on the number of terms that a person may be
29-elected as a Member of the United States Senate.
30-SECTION 3. That this application shall be considered as covering
31-the same subject matter as the applications from other States to
32-SJ 21 2
33-Congress to call a convention to set a limit on the number of terms that
34-a person may be elected to the House of Representatives of the
35-Congress of the United States and the Senate of the United States.
36-SECTION 4. That this application shall be aggregated with
37-applications from the other States for the same subject for the purpose
38-of attaining the two-thirds of states necessary to require Congress to
39-call a limited convention on this subject, but shall not be aggregated
40-with any other applications on any other subject.
41-SECTION 5. That this application constitutes a continuing
42-application in accordance with Article V of the Constitution of the
43-United States until the legislatures of at least two-thirds of the several
44-states have made applications on the same subject.
45-SECTION 6. That certified copies of this resolution be sent to each
46-of the following:
47-(1) Each of the presiding officers of the Congress.
48-(2) The Secretary of the United States Senate and the Clerk of the
49-United States House of Representatives.
50-(3) The presiding officer of each chamber of each state legislature
51-in the United States.
52-(4) The members of the Congress from Indiana.
53-SECTION 7. That sending certified copies of this resolution to the
54-presiding officer of each chamber of each state legislature in the United
55-States serves as an invitation to the legislatures of those states to join
56-in this call for an Article V convention.
