SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MR. PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION to honor Indy Gateway for
2 their efforts in ensuring long-term sustainability on the west
3 side of Indianapolis.
4 Whereas, Indy Gateway began in 2015 as a group of people
5 who love the west side of Indianapolis and are dedicated to the
6 area's viability;
7 Whereas, Indy Gateway is focused on five community
8 initiatives: affordable housing, infrastructure, quality of life,
9 economic development, and resources;
10 Whereas, Affordable housing is a community issue, and
11 Indy Gateway is committed to promoting affordable quality
12 options so more people can experience the west side as a place
13 to live, work, and raise a family;
14 Whereas, Indy Gateway advocates for infrastructure
15 improvements - from the expansion of the Blue Line to
16 completing streets and bike paths;
17 Whereas, Indy Gateway works to provide access to quality
18 education and employment opportunities so the west side of

1 Indianapolis is a place where people live, work, and play;
2 Whereas, Indy Gateway promotes economic development
3 by encouraging businesses to invest in their community and
4 encouraging their leaders and businesses to be a voice for
5 positive change;
6 Whereas, Indy Gateway's resources come in many forms:
7 people, leadership, and partnership. Together they will work to
8 make a difference in the west side for many years to come; and
9 Whereas, With many of Indy Gateway's members active in
10 civic leadership, the organization naturally has access to
11 opportunities for growth and development that will continue to
12 support their community: Therefore,
13 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
14 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
15 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes the
16 ongoing efforts of the Indy Gateway organization.
17 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
18 directed to transmit one copy of this Resolution to Indy
19 Gateway.
