SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MR. PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION to recognize the Hoosier Girls
2 State program for their ongoing efforts to educate young
3 women about city, county, and state government.
4 Whereas, The Hoosier Girls State program is designed to
5 educate Indiana's young women in the duties, privileges, rights,
6 and responsibilities of good citizenship by getting involved in
7 the process of government;
8 Whereas, The American Legion Auxiliary Units assist high
9 school principals and counselors to recognize leadership
10 qualities of young women to be selected to attend the Hoosier
11 Girls State program;
12 Whereas, Trine University in Angola, Indiana, hosts the
13 Hoosier Girls State program and the participants learn about
14 the execution of city, county, and state-level government
15 procedures while fulfilling the civics requirement for the
16 Graduation Pathways Diploma; and
17 Whereas, The Hoosier Girls State program strives to
18 develop leadership and pride in American citizens, to educate
19 students about our system of government, to instill a greater

1 understanding of American traditions, and to encourage a
2 desire to maintain our government process: Therefore,
3 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
4 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
5 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes Hoosier
6 Girls State for their ongoing efforts to educate young women
7 about city, county, and state government.
8 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
9 directed to submit one copy of this Resolution to the Hoosier
10 Girls State program.
